Behavior Strategies
Here are some strategies that I have used within my classroom to help students focus, complete the task at hand, be respectful, etc.:
Other behavioral resources:
- 7 minutes of educational work, 3 minutes of choice (play with toys, go for a short walk, iPad time)
- You can adjust the time for the age of the student
- Incentivize the task at hand - example: after we complete this, you can do that
- Have clear expectations
- Visual schedule - pictures or a list of what the day consists of helps students look ahead and know what is coming
- 2 minute warning - give the student a warning that we will be transitioning to something different in 2 minutes
- Ask the student what they are feeling and talk about their emotions

During school closures multiple aquariums, zoos, state parks, and national parks have created virtual tours or access to live cams. Watching live cams of animals in zoos can be a great "brain break" from school work.
- Monterey Bay Aquarium Live Cams
- Georgia Aquarium Live Cams
- San Diego Zoo Live Cams
- British Museum, London virtual tour
- Google Earth is pretty cool to explore around too! (there is also an app)
- STEM Activity - make your own moon sand!
